In the book ‘Never Let Me Go’, the characters live a life of sacrificing themselves for others, watching their friends die, and eventually facing their own deaths.
As seen on the front cover, the “red thread”, commonly used to signify a relationship, breaks between the hands of two people, indirectly revealing their harsh fate. The way the two girls let go of each other’s hands, not in a position to take each other’s. But with the front girl’s back completely turned, shows that they know this fate and accept it as a matter of course.
